ATOMOS is enhancing its camera-to-cloud service by introducing the ATOMOSphere, a robust new cloud-based ecosystem for media storage, backup, camera-to-cloud workflows, file sharing, review, and approval, among other features.
This platform aims to directly compete with Frame.io and other camera-to-cloud ecosystems, connecting not only ATOMOS products but also the cameras they support.
The ATOMOSphere offers a user-friendly, single sign-on interface and a background uploading system that allows for fast and straightforward backup to the cloud, even while video cameras are still recording.

“With ATOMOSphere, we’re connecting creatives across the globe,” said Peter Barber, Chief Operating Officer of ATOMOS.
“We have developed an open cloud platform that does not lock you into any specific system or workflow.
It doesn’t matter what camera you use, what format you shoot in, or which editing software you prefer – ATOMOSphere is designed to be open, flexible, and adaptable to your unique workflow.”

Through this membership, users can register devices, manage storage, upload media, and collaborate with team members and clients worldwide in a safe and secure environment.
Users of cloud-connected Ninja or Shogun monitor recorders can quickly pair their devices with their ATOMOSphere account and start sharing footage in real time.

While ATOMOSphere is crafted to compete with other cloud solutions, ATOMOS has made its integration uniquely open, allowing users to collaborate with those solutions as well.
Creators can link all cloud-based services in a hub-like fashion, maintaining full control to transfer footage and assets from one service to another as needed.
Additionally, users who have not connected to the cloud using ATOMOS products are still supported through traditional physical media ingestion.
If users are recording to SSDs or removable media with a monitor recorder, they can connect to a computer and upload directly to ATOMOSphere after wrapping up for the day or swapping out media when full.

ATOMOSphere supports high-end formats such as Apple ProRes, Avid DNx, HEVC H.265, H.264, and others, as well as RAW image formats.
This platform allows users to sort, share, and collaborate with an unlimited array of production teams.
ATOMOS also claims that even if the system cannot natively read the chosen file formats outside of those listed, it can still accept these files for backup and archival purposes, regardless of type, format, or camera brand.
Moreover, ATOMOS has partnered with Axel.AI to provide cloud editing and AI tools, including media management, automated transcription in 20 languages, metadata tagging, multi-user editing, and intelligent media search.
