GoPro is following in RØDE’s footsteps by introducing a limited edition variant of the Hero13 Black action camera, featuring a sleek Polar White design.
This flagship 5.3K action camera boasts HyperSmooth 6.0 stabilization and compatibility with the new HB Series Lenses.
Equipped with a new 1/1.9 inch GP2 image sensor, the GoPro Hero13 Black captures stunning 10-bit 5.3K video at an impressive sixty frames per second and can record 4K video at up to 120fps.

It supports various aspect ratios, including 16:9, 8:7, 9:16, and 4:3, with the larger 8:7 ratio making full use of the image processor for easy reframing during post-production.

The camera also shoots RAW still images up to 27.6 MP, offering a 35mm equivalent focal length of 12mm – 39mm, depending on the selected aspect ratio.
It features digital modes like HyperView, SuperView, Wide, and Linear, along with a Horizon Lock option for steady shots while in motion. Users can choose from standard, burst, and a stunning low-light Night Photo mode.

GoPro supports live streaming at 1080p30, perfect for broadcasting those action-packed moments on the slopes.
Additional features include TimeWarp video and stills, Light Painting, Star Trails, Vehicle Light, and traditional time and night lapse modes.
In response to the growing trend of magnetic mountings for cameras, GoPro has introduced an optional magnetic mount alongside its well-known folding fingers mount.
Users can now opt for a quick, stick-it-and-forget-it mount or the more secure traditional mount that screws into the collapsible fingers.

The Hero13 Black is also compatible with GoPro’s new line of HB Series modular lenses, which automatically adjust the camera settings for optimal shots and lighting conditions when attached.
The lens set includes the Ultra Wide Lens Mod, which offers the widest angle, a close-up Macro Lens Mod, and a cinematic Anamorphic Lens Mod for a 21:9 aspect ratio.
Additionally, GoPro offers a 4-pack set of ND Filters ranging from ND4 to ND32.
These filters deliver a more cinematic motion blur and help prevent overexposure in brightly lit environments, such as ski slopes or ocean settings, where reflections can affect the camera’s light balance.
Pricing and Availability:
The Limited Edition Polar White model retails for $399. The Ultra Wide Lens Mod HB lens costs $99, while the close-up Macro Lens Mod is priced at $129, including the Anamorphic Lens Mod.
The 4-pack of ND Filters is available for $69, making it a valuable accessory for field use.
However, it is unclear if the accessories are offered in the Polar White option; they remain compatible with the Polar White Edition.
For those worried about losing their Polar White Hero13 Black on the slopes, GoPro is also offering the stock Hero13 Black at a $70 discount, bringing the price down to $329.
This could hint at an upcoming Hero14 launch. If you’re considering purchasing a new action camera, it might be wise to hold off for a few weeks unless you’re set on the White edition.
I have to say, it looks pretty drippy! That is a thing still, right?
