Atomos has introduced the new five-inch Shinobi GO HDR monitor, catering to content creators who want to enhance their existing kit.
This monitor is designed for filmmakers who need to closely monitor what their camera sees but does not require onboard camera controls.
Priced at around $250, it offers an affordable entry point into the external monitor market.

“The Shinobi GO is tailored for those who either don’t need camera control or own a compatible camera,” stated Atomos CEO Jeromy Young.
“It provides a high-quality, daylight-viewable display at a budget-friendly price, delivering exactly what photographers and videographers require without sacrificing quality, even at a lower cost. Plus, it comes from a brand trusted by professionals worldwide.”
With a brightness output of 1500 nits, the 5.2-inch Shinobi GO is a slim, lightweight HDR monitor that won’t hinder content creators on the move.
It features the same high-performance monitoring tools as Atomos’ popular Shinobi II from last year but omits advanced features such as camera control, touch-to-focus, anamorphic settings, and EL ZONE.
Moreover, unfortunately, the Shinobi GO isn’t supported by RED/ARRI camera platforms. Those who need these functionalities should consider the Shinobi II.
Despite lacking higher-end features, the Shinobi GO still equips camera operators with essential tools. It includes monitoring features such as false color, zebra, histogram, waveform, and vectorscope.
The Shinobi GO runs on Sony NP-F-type batteries but can also be powered by a USB-C-connected power bank for extended shooting sessions.
Additionally, it comes with a locking connection adapter for both the USB-C port and HDMI. When paired with Atomos locking cables, accidental disconnections while in use are virtually impossible.

As a simplified version of the Shinobi II, the Shinobi GO benefits from sharing the same accessories. Users of the Shinobi II can utilize the Sunhood, batteries, cables, rigs, and other attachments, creating a more cost-effective kit without having to purchase duplicates.
Kudos to Atomos for prioritizing the needs of content creators over profit margins. Instead of altering the dimensions to compel users to buy extra accessories, they maintained consistency, making it easier for camera operators.
Price and Availability
The Shinobi GO retails for $249 USD/EUR, plus applicable local sales and VAT taxes. It is now available through Atomos directly or through its authorized resellers.
