SIGMA has just announced its new mirrorless camera along with a pair of L-mount lenses to broaden its product range.
The BR Mirrorless camera features what SIGMA describes as a “radically simple” unibody design, offering a combined focal length of 16-600mm from the lenses in a compact APS-C package that emphasizes usability.

The Camera
The SIGMA BF Mirrorless camera boasts a lightweight aluminum build along with an intuitive touchscreen interface and a straightforward button layout, allowing photographers to focus on capturing the moment.
It incorporates just three buttons, a control dial, and a shutter release.
Additionally, the BF camera supports haptic feedback and navigation through a large round dial, with controls that are mimicked on the 3.15” 2.1m-dot Rear LCD Touchscreen.

At its core, the SIGMA BF features a 24MP full-frame back-illuminated CMOS image sensor.
This sensor supports SIGMA’s latest hybrid autofocus system, which combines phase-detection AF with contrast-detection AF to deliver quick and accurate focusing.
It also allows users to capture 6K video using Leica’s L-Log, ensuring maximum dynamic range and accurate skin tones.
The camera comes equipped with 230 GB of internal storage, capable of holding up to 4,300 images in RAW format, 14000 in JPEG, and 2.5 hours of 6K Raw video.
Users can transfer files via a fast 10 Gb/s USB-C connection, which also serves to charge the camera.

Two Lenses
To complement this deceptively simple imaging platform, SIGMA introduces a pair of fast, long lenses designed to capture action from great distances.
The SIGMA 16-300mm f/3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary lens pushes the concept of simplicity further as an all-in-one optic that meets 90% of daily photography needs.
With a 35mm equivalent range of 24-450mm, this APS-C lens facilitates stunning landscapes, intimate portraits, and dynamic wildlife and sports photography.
The lens incorporates four aspherical lens elements, four super-low dispersion elements, and one FLD low dispersion element, all designed to provide exceptional sharpness and resolution while minimizing artifacts and unwanted lens flare.
With an 18.8x zoom range, a 1:2 maximum magnification ratio, and High-response Linear Actuators, this lens delivers rapid and quiet autofocus, relying on optical image stabilization to counteract camera shake by up to 6 stops.

To push the focal length even further, SIGMA is also launching the impressive 300-600mm DG OS constant aperture F4 super telephoto Sports lens.
This full-frame lens supports both Sony E and Leica L-Mount options, offering fast focusing and maintaining a constant aperture throughout its entire focal range.
Its internal zoom design features low dispersion and high refractive index elements and high-thrust hyper-linear actuator focusing motors for precise tracking and focusing during action shots.
With optical image stabilization, the DG OS provides up to 5.5 stops of image stabilization.
The lens also has an adjustable function ring to toggle between Focus Preset and Power focus modes, enabling smooth and constant speeds while pulling focus.
Pricing and Availability
The SIGMA BF Mirrorless Camera is available in silver or black, with a preorder retail price of $1,999. The SIGMA 16-300mm f/3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary lens supports various mounts including Sony E, Leica L-Mount, Canon RF, and Fujifilm X, and retails for $699.
Meanwhile, the 300-600mm DG OS Super Telephoto Sports Lens, compatible with Sony E and Leica L mounts, is priced at just under $6,000.
While this may be steep for the average enthusiast, it is a fitting price for professional sports and wildlife photographers. All three products are expected to ship in April 2025.
