ARRI is targeting independents who work across multiple disciplines and genres with the introduction of the ALEXA 35 camera system, which offers an entry-level price that can be adjusted through flexible licenses added as needed.
The more affordable ALEXA 35 Base model allows users to expand its capabilities with additional licenses on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis, as well as a permanent rate for long-term users.

The new base configuration closely resembles the flagship ALEXA 35 Premium model, differing mainly in its flexible licensing options.
The ALEXA 35 Base features the same Super 35 Sensor, allowing for up to 17 stops of dynamic range.
It supports image capture in ProRes at up to 60 frames per second in 4K 16:9 widescreen with 10-bit HDR color space.
The camera also accommodates ARRI CDL and 3D LUTs, enhanced sensitivity modes up to EI6400, and independent monitoring outputs.

ARRI asserts that its new flexible licensing options will make it more affordable for camera operators to join the ARRI ecosystem.
These options are designed to keep cameras future-proof by allowing users to unlock specialized and advanced features as needed.
By accessing licenses on a pay-as-you-go basis, camera operators can enhance their skill set across various disciplines, providing them with greater opportunities and more flexible options for content creation.
The five licenses offered include a higher frame rate license of up to 120 fps, ARRIRAW for uncompressed image quality, Open Gate/Anamorphic support to capture the entire 4.6K sensor area and anamorphic mode, a 20-second prerecording buffer license, and ARRI’s in-camera Look Up Table support for custom textures, looks, and color management.
Users can install licenses for varying periods: weekly, monthly, annually, or permanently. If all five licenses are unlocked, the camera transforms into the Premium model, allowing users to acquire all five licenses at a single, cost-effective price point.
ARRI has also updated its online purchase portal to facilitate the addition of these new licenses, which had previously been available only for other ALEXA cameras, such as the ALEXA Mini and AMIRA.
Now, users can easily access and activate licenses for the ALEXA 35 Base model through the online portal as needed.
