Venus Optics has expanded its Nanomorph optics design with a new set of large-format 1.5x anamorphic lenses.
This professional-grade lens lineup caters specifically to large format and full-frame cameras and aims to deliver exceptional image quality that redefines anamorphic filmmaking for a wider range of creators.
With an impressive image circle of Ø44.71mm, the Nanomorph LF series ensures full-frame sensor coverage while reducing vignetting and enhancing image quality.
This design allows cinematographers to maximize the resolution of standard cameras, such as the ARRI Alexa LF 4.5K Open Gate, across the anamorphic spectrum.
The series includes four focal lengths: 32mm T2.9 (with 17 elements in 15 groups), 42mm T2.9 (with 17 elements in 15 groups), 55mm T2.9 (with 15 elements in 13 groups), and 85mm T2 (with 15 elements in 13 groups).
Each lens sports a 1.5x squeeze ratio that delivers a 2.66:1 aspect ratio on a 16:9 sensor. Unlike most anamorphic lenses with a 1.8x or 2x squeeze ratio, the Nanomorph LF series maintains a compact design, minimizing wasted image space on standard sensors.
The compact and lightweight design also makes it an ideal option for handheld rigs, stabilized systems, and drones. Its practical design supports dynamic storytelling in various shooting environments.
Additionally, the Nanomorph LF series avoids the distorted bokeh often seen near the edges of many anamorphic lenses, providing uniformity across the frame.
This design gives filmmakers greater creative freedom while reducing the need for corrections in post-production.
The Nanomorph LF lenses feature excellent focus-breathing control, which maintains consistent framing during focus pulls, a critical feature that enhances visual stability and immersion, whether capturing close-ups or sweeping transitions.
With a 270° focus throw, these lenses allow for precise adjustments, enabling filmmakers to achieve intricate focus effects and smooth transitions.
This extended range offers greater control over depth of field, enhancing cinematic storytelling. Meanwhile, the built-in back-focus adjustment mechanism simplifies on-site calibration, saving valuable production time.
The Nanomorph LF series features an interchangeable mount system that ensures compatibility with a wide range of cameras.
The lenses include an Arri PL mount, with optional bayonets supporting Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon Z, and L Mounts available for purchase.
The series also offers three distinct flare coatings – amber, blue, and silver – giving filmmakers various options to customize their look.
