For a More Compact Cine Lens Design, Venus Optics Draws Its Sword

Venus Optics is pushing the boundaries of compact cinema lenses with the innovative Sword Macro line, which features full-frame cinema lenses.

Covering an impressive focal length range of 15mm to 180mm, the lightweight Laowa Sword series weighs less than 1 kg (2.2 lbs), making it one of the lightest options on the market.

With a maximum lens magnification of 1-2x, the Sword line delivers exceptional sharpness and clarity, whether shooting extreme close-ups or wide-angle shots.

Engineered to minimize chromatic aberration, these lenses effectively eliminate color fringing and ensure clarity and accurate color reproduction from edge to edge of the image frame.

The Sword’s lightweight design allows filmmakers to explore a wide range of camera setups and situations.

You can easily mount these lenses on gimbals, robotic arms, or even larger camera drones, making the Sword Macro a versatile choice for various filmmaking conditions.

Featuring between 12 to 14 lens elements arranged in 9 to 11 groups, the Sword Macro lenses boast an aperture speed rating of T2.9 for the 24mm-100mm lenses, T4.1 for the 15mm wide angle, and T4.6 for the 180mm telephoto.

The series also offers smooth bokeh, thanks to the 13-bladed aperture for the 35mm-180mm models, a 14-bladed aperture for the 15mm wide angle, and a 7-bladed aperture for the 25mm prime.
