Blackmagic Design has streamlined its backend data center architecture and announced a reduction in the monthly cost of Blackmagic Cloud by up to 50%.
The average monthly price now stands at $15 per TB.
“This new, lower price for Blackmagic Cloud storage is exciting and will enable many more customers to adopt cloud workflows,” said Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design.
“This initiative reflects the core values of Blackmagic Design. Our engineers have done an excellent job of reducing the cost of Blackmagic Cloud.”
If unfamiliar with the service, Blackmagic Cloud enhances camera-to-cloud support for DaVinci Resolve and other Blackmagic Design products, enabling post-production teams to collaborate globally.
Editors, colorists, visual effects artists, and audio engineers can work together on the same projects and media files, accessing the original footage from Blackmagic’s latest cinema cameras.
At the heart of this high-speed camera-to-cloud (C2C) workflow lies the cloud service’s live sync capability.
This technology connects Blackmagic cinema cameras, such as the Blackmagic PYXIS, URSA Cine, and URSA Broadcast, to the C2C network, allowing the recording of full-resolution HD proxies in H.264.
Blackmagic Cloud enables content creators to sync to the internet in real-time and upload content as they record, making files available to post-production teams within minutes of the director calling “cut” or even while the action unfolds.
Camera operators can view Blackmagic Cloud projects directly in the camera’s menu interface. Once connected, uploads occur automatically.
Additionally, Blackmagic Cloud’s multi-sync feature allows teams to sync and upload multiple cameras simultaneously while live-streaming the workflow into DaVinci Resolve software.
Editors see a red record indicator on the file icon in the bin, indicating that a scene is currently being recorded.
This feature allows colorists to begin grading colors in real-time, while other members of the post-production team can cut, edit, and apply effects for instant review.
This collaborative approach eliminates the need for costly reshoots later on since necessary changes can be made on the fly.
This system particularly benefits electronic news-gathering organizations needing timely coverage of breaking news.
It allows editors to piece together segments in real-time while cameras continue rolling.
The new lower price takes effect today for all Blackmagic Cloud members. For more information, please go to www.blackmagicdesign.com.
