Aputure Introduces New Storm LED Lights with Dynamic new BLAIR Engine

Aputure, a leader in innovative lighting solutions, has announced its new Storm line of BLAIR CG lights, which boast a color spectrum that surpasses all other LED-style lighting fixtures.

These lights employ an advanced RGB LED engine design that significantly outperforms traditional RGB options in terms of spectral fidelity.

The BLAIR Color Engine, which includes Blue, Lime, Amber, Indigo, Red, Cyan, and Green color values, extends beyond standard RGB and natural light.

This design gives filmmakers the capability to replicate artificial effects, such as neon glows or other non-natural colors and lighting conditions.

As a result, users gain access to adjustable, color-tunable light that delivers remarkable accuracy, capturing lighting values that cameras typically overlook.

LED lights often face challenges with perceived versus actual color due to their limited color ranges and deficiencies in the spectrum.

To tackle this problem, Aputure developed the BLAIR Color Engine, which accurately reproduces color-saturated values while maintaining precise color matching.

At the heart of the BLAIR CF design is a tunable color light that reaches 90% color accuracy within the Rec2020 color space – an achievement that traditional RGB lighting engines struggle to accomplish.

The Storm line also excels in producing better white light in both natural daylight and tungsten configurations.

The Storm 80c and Storm 1000c offer an impressive adjustment range of 1,800K to 20,000K CCT, along with 100% green control throughout the entire adjustment spectrum.

Thanks to its compact and lightweight design, the Storm 80c proves ideal for low-budget, independent projects, offering exceptional flexibility for various lighting setups.

It features a removable yoke and an innovative Pro Lock Bowens mount, making it perfect for tight spaces and on-the-go productions.

By contrast, the more powerful Storm 1000c serves as a high-output, tunable color COB light, specifically designed for demanding cinematic applications.

Its robust construction suits larger sets and locations, providing the power, precision, and versatility that modern gaffers require.

Furthermore, it has an IP65 weather protection rating, ensuring reliability in diverse environments.

These lights allow for both wired and wireless control protocols, including 3-pin DMX and LumenRadio CRMX, as well as app control via Bluetooth and the Sidus Link and Sidus Link Pro apps.

Users can also select from four dimming curves: linear, exponential, logarithmic, and S-shaped.

Power options include a standard AC adapter, USB-C input, or V-mount battery plate.

Pricing and Availability

Aputure offers the Storm 80c for preorder at a retail price of $599, while the Storm 1000c will retail for $3,990.

Additionally, the Storm 1000c Cine Kit, which includes skid support, a Fresnel, and barn doors, is priced at $5,037.

Both models can be paired with Aputure’s suite of dedicated accessories, such as the CF4 Fresnel (for the 80c), CF12 Fresnel (for the 1000c), barn doors, diffusers, and narrow and medium reflectors.
