Nikon has just announced the new Z50 II compact mirrorless camera, designed for hybrid content creators who capture moments in both still images and videos.
The camera boasts a film-inspired aesthetic, improved user-friendliness, and enhanced color accuracy.
“The Z50 II is a gateway to a whole new world of expression,” said Fumiko Kawabata, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Planning at Nikon Inc.
“This camera incorporates some of the best technology from our renowned professional-level cameras, yet it is compact enough to take anywhere.”
The Z50 II is crafted to be both simple and powerful, hinting at its professional-grade pedigree.
It offers creativity-boosting features within a compact design, allowing users to either capture fleeting moments or create longer-form videos.
The camera is equipped with a 20.9-megapixel APS-C image sensor and Expeed 7 processing, forming the core of its capabilities.
Advanced autofocus features are integrated via Nikon’s subject detection and 3D tracking algorithms.
Additionally, the camera includes a dedicated Picture Control button for one-touch access to color presets and picture controls.
The Z50 II features a bright electronic viewfinder with 100 nits of brightness, which is twice as bright as its predecessor, providing users with a clear and accurate image for checking focus and composing shots.
Moreover, it has a 3.2-inch vari-angle LCD touchscreen monitor that offers intuitive menu navigation and a large display for vloggers to capture video logs and selfies.
For still photography, the Z50 II can shoot at impressive speeds, with burst capabilities of up to 30 frames per second (fps) in electronic shutter mode or 11 fps with the mechanical shutter.
It also includes a pre-release capture feature that buffers up to one second of images before the shutter button is fully pressed.
Video users will appreciate high-end features like capturing in Nikon N-Log, with support for waveform monitors, product review modes, and microphone and headphone jacks for external sound recording and monitoring.
The camera also offers Nikon’s Hi-Res Zoom feature, allowing users to zoom in on subjects without sacrificing quality or sharpness.
Additional features include an illuminated red recording tally light and USB-based live video streaming through a compatible computer or smartphone.
Pricing and availability
The Nikon Z50 II will be available in late November, with a suggested retail price of $909.95 for the body only.
Bundled kits, including the Nikkor Z 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens, will be priced at $1,049.95.
