In a significant firmware update for its Cinema EOS line (many discounted through Canon’s annual Holiday sale), Canon has addressed various issues and introduced expanded feature support, including camera-to-cloud applications and multi-camera functionality for mobile devices.
One of the key new features is enhanced support for Frame.io’s camera-to-cloud platform, which includes activating and transmitting proxy files over WiFi. This update primarily impacts the brand-new Canon EOS C400 and C80 Cinema Cameras.
Additionally, the Canon C70 Cinema camera and EOS R5C mirrorless camera will now be compatible with the RF 17-120 Cine-Servo lens and the new hybrid RF 70-200 F2.8 L IS USM Z zoom lens.
Canon has also activated support for a digital teleconverter alongside the C500 Mark II and C300 Mark III cine cameras.
The C400 and C80 cameras will also gain support for the new hybrid Tele-zoom lens.
The R5C will further enable camera output to mirror the camera’s LCD display, a feature also available for the C70, the C500 Mark II, and the C300 Mark III cameras.
Users can now enjoy new subject-tracking trigger controls and the ability to move the autofocus frame in the display to a preferred location.
