Panasonic Expands S9 Lineup with New Colors, Lens Kits, and a Firmware Update

Users wanting a powerful and reliable camera may want to take another look at the Panasonic S9 Mirrorless Camera. This full-frame mirrorless camera boasts a 24.4 MP image sensor, 5-axis dual in-body image stabilization, and phase hybrid autofocus.

It can capture 10-bit 6K video at up to 60 fps using various codecs. Panasonic has now expanded this model with new lens kits, a firmware update, and a few extra color schemes.

The S9 supports 3:2 open gate recording and offers up to 14 stops of dynamic range. It also supports CInelike D2/V2 video recording for a more streamlined post-production workflow.

Additionally, the S9 supports custom real-time LUTs, which can be transferred to the camera from a smartphone, or users can download a curated array of LUTs from the official Lumix website.

Furthermore, the S9 provides 5 stops of camera shake reduction and up to 6.5 stops of IBIS when using a compatible lens.

Panasonic now offers kits with the choice of a Lumix S 28-200mm F/4-7.1 Macro OIS lens or the 18-40mm F/4.5-6.3mm kit lens.

In addition, the Panasonic S9 has a new firmware update available, which brings several new features including limitless recording times, multiple frame markers, improved subject detection, and more reliable stability and performance.

The firmware update includes:

– A new menu for Recording Time Limit, including an option for limitless recording depending on environment and operating conditions.
– A display feature for Multiple Frame Markers, allowing the user to see up to three frame markers simultaneously for planning shots for use across platforms.
– Improved subject detection with algorithms for detecting airplanes, trains, and specific parts of cars and motorcycles.
– Improvements to the LUMIX Lab smartphone app, allowing remote shooting, shutter remote control, and improved image transfer.

There are also firmware updates for S5II, S5IIX, and the G9II. Expanded features include support for the Panasonic XLR Mic Adapter, 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and support for the Lumix Labs app.

The latest firmware updates will be available to download free of charge from the LUMIX Global Customer Support website on 9th October 2024.

The Panasonic S9 Lens Kit with Lumix S 28-200mm F/4-7.1 Macro OIS lens is available for preorder at a retail price of $2,197.99, while the 18-40mm F/4.5-6.3mm kit lens is available for preorder now for a retail price of $1,797.98.

The standard 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 kit is also available. Users can opt for the traditional black color scheme, or the new pink or olive green scheme, which joins colorway options such as red, blue, and mint.

Shipping is expected to begin on October 22, 2024.
