Blackmagic Issues New Update to DaVinci 19

Blackmagic has announced a new update for DaVinci Resolve 19, which introduces several new features, including support for decoding MPEG transport stream clips and improved audio alignment when replacing clips in the media bin.

The version 19.0.2 update also addresses various bugs reported by users.

One of the key features of this update is the ability to decode MPEG transport stream clips with a .ts suffix.

This addition has been well-received, though some users note that it may initially be limited to specific file types, with potential expansion in future updates.

Users have also noticed improved RAM performance management in DaVinci 19.

One user reported that their current project now uses half the RAM compared to the previous version, a significant improvement for a minor update.

Another enhancement is in how Resolve 19 handles the speed warp mode. Early feedback indicates improved quality when using this tool.

Additionally, the update improves audio alignment when replacing clips in the media pool, helping users save time and maintain synchronization in their videos.

Other new features include scripting API support for per-clip custom metadata, source start and end frames, source start and end timecode, and media pool selection.

The scripting functionality also adds support for querying timeline clip positions with subframe precision and appending clips to timelines at subframe offsets.

Furthermore, the update brings support for Electron version 31.3.1 for workflow integrations.

The update also resolves various bugs, including issues with ripple delete for audio-only clips, sub-clip markers not displaying, updating imported metadata with an EDL clip name, and problems with color-managed timelines.

Users can now replace clip actions while retaining destination track settings. Blackmagic has also improved overall performance and stability, as is typical with these updates.

The free Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve 19.0.2 update is available directly from the Blackmagic Support Website.

Users are advised to back up their full project library and individual projects before updating, especially if transitioning from version 18.6.6, as downgrading after opening projects in version 19.0.2 is no longer possible.

Minimum requirements for Windows users include the Windows 10 Creators Update, or Windows 11 if using ARM based architecture. MacOS users Mac OS 13 Ventura, while Linux users should opt for Rocky Linux 8.6 or CentOS 7.3.
