Insta360 Announces New Webcams That Go Far Beyond the Zoom Device

Insta360 has introduced two new 4K webcams that offer significant improvements over standard webcams, featuring enhanced video and audio quality.

The Link 2 and 2C Webcams are equipped with AI-powered algorithms for subject tracking and other advanced capabilities, making them suitable for transforming a typical Zoom meeting into a professional webcast.

According to JK Liu, the Founder of Insta360, the company has taken into account user feedback and expanded the possibilities of what a webcam can achieve.

The Link 2 and Link 2C webcams are designed to provide premium 4K imaging, clear audio, and user-friendly AI-powered features, allowing individuals to present themselves online in the best possible way, regardless of their location.

In response to user needs and preferences, Insta360 has developed two different models to cater to a variety of online users.

Both webcams are equipped with a 1/2” image sensor capable of capturing 4K video at up to 30 fps and 1080P HD at up to 60 fps.

They feature a fast aperture of F1.8, a focal length of 26mm, autofocus, and high dynamic range. The cameras provide an equivalent field of view of 79.5º DFOV and 67º HFOV.

The Link 2C is a standard 4K webcam with a traditional fixed design, while the Link 2 offers more advanced features, including a 2-axis gimbal for smooth stabilized footage and AI-powered tracking to keep the subject in frame at all times.

Both cameras can be mounted traditionally or through the choice of a magnetic attachment or 1/4-20 for tripods.

The AI Tracking and Auto Framing in the Insta360 Link 2 allows the subject to move around freely while the camera automatically follows and keeps the subject centered in the frame.

This feature is especially useful for content creators like online educators, presenters, and cooks who move around during live streams. The camera also offers a Group Tracking option when more than one subject is within the frame.

With intuitive gesture control and pause track areas, the camera can respond to natural movements and commands without physical contact.

This capability is useful for e-commerce live streams, zooming, and a special Smart Whiteboard mode to focus on what the presenter is writing.

The webcams also feature active noise reduction technology and professional-grade audio to provide superior sound quality, filtering out distracting ambient noises.

They come with three profiles for adjusting to ambient conditions: Voice Focus, Voice Suppression, and Music Balance.

Additional features include remote control via smartphone, standard background replacement, overhead desk view for demonstrations, makeup filter, and privacy mode.

The webcams are compatible with major video conferencing platforms and offer a 4K portrait mode for live streaming on social media sites like TikTok or Instagram.

Pricing and Availability

The Insta360 Link 2 and Link 2C are available starting today from Insta360 Direct or authorized dealers for a retail price of $199 and $149 respectively.

Upgrading to the Insta360 Link webcam will undoubtedly elevate the video conferencing experience, providing a professional presentation that goes beyond simply being “present” in the stream.
