SmallHD has launched a new, ultra-bright ten-inch field monitor with up to 2000 nits of brightness and touchscreen camera control. The Ultra 10 monitor includes features such as support for WiFi 6 and an all-weather IP rating of 54.
Greg Smokler, VP of Cine Products, describes the Ultra 10 as a new class of monitor combining the versatility of a touchscreen handheld with the powerful processing and larger viewing area of 4K production monitors.
The 10-inch screen size enhances visibility, and its ergonomics allow for use in various production situations.
As the largest 4K production monitor in the SmallHD Ultra Bright lineup, the Ultra 10 boasts multi-function control knobs, an option for a tally light module, 6G-SDI architecture, and support for Teradek’s Bolt 6 and Ultra 4K wireless platforms.
It features internal Bolt 6 antennas for the RX models, with dual 2-pin connectors for powered accessories, as well as a Pogo connector for battery power passthrough.
The 10-inch color-accurate QD-LED Edge-Lit LCD screen can display up to 2000 nits of full-screen brightness, making it easy to see in bright, ambient conditions.
Users can enjoy focus detail with 1:1 pixel zoom and a 1920×1200 screen resolution. The screen also has a 4K30 pass-through for ingesting the video stream via 6G-SDI.
SmallHD’s PageOS can be controlled through the Ultra10’s joystick, touch interface, or the large custom buttons and knobs. Users can customize knobs and buttons with a long push, or a short push resets.
Meanwhile, the capacitive touch of the buttons and knobs shows the mapped tools at a glance. Through the knobs, a camera operator or assistant can access exposure assist, focus assist, peaking, multi-view options, color pipe cycling, and beyond to the entire list of tools and features.
Additional features include a locking LEMO 5-pin USB, locking HDMI, a full-sized SD card slot, an Ethernet connection, and an auxiliary mini jack for headphones.
Mounting options include multiple standard 1/4-20 threads with CS pinhole for ARRI connections, and a pair of 3/8-16 threaded mounting points for ARCA Rails and other accessories. It is powered by B, Gold, and V-Mount Micro Battery Plates or a two-pin locking connector.
Designed to go anywhere
The Ultra 10 RX versions have a wireless range of up to 1500 feet when using the Bolt 6 accessory, and with the WiFi 6 module, users can connect directly to networks using the SmallHD Control app.
Constructed from machined aluminum with raised edges, an anti-reflective undercoating, silicon bumpers, and an optional magnetic-mounted sunshade, the Ultra 10 is rugged and weatherproof.
The SmallHD Ultra 10 is versatile and suitable for various applications such as in the studio, on set, or on location. It can be added to director cages or video villages and is ideal for use with other studio monitors or remote applications for drone, helicopter, and car cameras.
