SmallHD Gives Its Flagship Ultra 7 Monitor a Splash of Color

Small HD has recently updated its flagship Ultra 7 Cinema Monitor, offering camera operators the option to add a personalized touch to their gear.

The 7-inch monitor now comes with the choice of up to 10 different colors for customizing buttons and bumpers, allowing users to better personalize or color-code their setup.

The Small HD Ultra 7 monitor features an impressive brightness of 2300 nits, HDMI 2.0 connectivity, and 6G-SDI support. It is also part of the Bolt wireless ecosystem.

Designed with edge-lit LEDs, it offers a resolution of 1920×1200 and is certified to IP54 for protection against dust and moisture, ensuring durability in various shooting conditions.

In addition to its customizable features, the Ultra 7 can store up to 33 LUTs and receive firmware updates through its SD Card Slot.

The monitor is equipped with SmallHD’s thermal management system, allowing it to operate in temperatures ranging from 32-104 degrees F while maintaining coolness.

SmallHD’s VP of Cine Products, Greg Smokler, expressed excitement about the customization option, stating, “We’re offering the ability to order a custom Ultra 7 built with 10 different color options.

This offering is something new for us, and we are excited to see how it is received by our community.”

Users can select from various button and bumper packages in colors such as Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Olive Green, Orange, Teal, Purple, Pink, and Gray.

The company also offers the original black option for those who prefer a classic look.

The customization extends to Ultra 7 models including the Ultra 7 Bolt 6 RX and Ultra 7 Bolt 6 TX, which also come with custom color Teradek antenna bands that match their monitor color scheme.

Although the customization options are appealing, it’s worth noting that each set of colors costs $200 for six buttons and 2 bumpers.

However, for those who prefer the original Black, it’s a more economical choice. Frankly, if it was me and I wanted color, I’d just mask off the buttons, spray paint them, and call it a day.

The colorizing upgrade is exclusively available from SmallHD, and the wait time for the facelift depends on color availability and the number of customizations being done at any given time, so it could take a few days.
