Insta 360 has recently introduced an update to its Insta 360 app, designed to streamline video editing and sharing processes.
The updated app incorporates enhanced algorithms leveraging AI capabilities to produce more refined, cinematic, and professional video outputs.
Highlighted as one of the top three video editing apps by Wirecutter in 2024, the Insta 360 app is compatible with a range of Insta 360 action cameras, including the latest X4 8K 360° model.
It facilitates the transformation of various creative camera shots, such as third-person viewpoints and aerial drone-style shots, into professional-looking videos with ease.
The latest version of the app offers improved object identification and interaction for more efficient automated shot grouping, along with an AI editing interface that enables the creation of professional highlight reels with minimal effort.
By simply selecting desired clips and activating the AI functionality, creators can rely on the app to identify objects, subjects, and scene types, applying appropriate filters and white balance adjustments to optimize visual appeal.
Additionally, the AI algorithm can discern interactions between individuals and objects, infusing the resulting videos with compelling narratives through tone and rhythm adjustments.
Further enhancing content creation, the app introduces over 40 new “movement templates,” offering content creators expanded creative options for video production. These templates encompass cinematic transitions, such as roll, pan, and push, packaged in innovative schemes to deliver seamless transitions from clip to clip.
Adding movement to videos is straightforward, as users can simply tap the designated icon between clips and select a movement template from the drop down menu.
The flexibility to customize transition points and dynamics allows for a tailored editing experience. Notably, these movements can also be added or modified within the app’s AI and Pro Edit modes.
Beyond these software updates, firmware upgrades for the X4 8K 360° camera enable enhanced functionalities, including Apple Watch compatibility via Bluetooth for remote camera control and parameter adjustments.
The update also extends support for third-party live streaming via the Insta 360 app, introduces a webcam mode, and incorporates a multi-view mode with face tracking to capture multiple perspectives within the same video.
Additionally, the Ace Pro action camera receives its own update, including an expanded color gamut for superior color accuracy, two new Leica-inspired visual presets, and improved Pure Video capabilities for extended dynamic range and heightened clarity in video recordings.

The app update is available now for download from the Insta 360 Support site. There are updates available for Insta 360 Studio desktop editing software, the Insta 360 mobile app for both iOS and Android, and there’s also a firmware update for the X4 8K 360° camera.
