Hollyland has announced a new field monitor with a variety of features, described as the Swiss army knife of monitors.
The monitor supports live video streaming via RTMP and is suitable for live production events, on-location capture, film production, and electronic newsgathering.
The Pyro 7 is a compact seven-inch monitor offering wireless video transmission and monitoring across dual bands with frequency hopping to maintain signal reliability.
It operates at both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz and can handle connections for up to four different receivers simultaneously. It also provides HDMI and SDI loop-out connections for additional connectivity.
The Pyro 7 has a range of about 1300 feet (400 m) and offers ultra-long-range wireless transmission and reception with a latency of just 60 ms.
The monitor includes Auto Dual Band Hopping technology, which moves across up to eight different bands to ensure a reliable and clear video signal as frequencies become congested.
Additionally, the transmitter features customizable shortcut function keys for dual camera monitoring and switching.
The WiFi broadcast technology, coupled with its loop-out and output connections, means that the entire crew, clientele, and the project’s video village can view each scene and camera shot in a clear, 1920×1200 pixel resolution while providing streamlined decision-making and an online stream for live broadcasting during events.
The monitor offers two different video signal modes, including HD Mode which offers a stable bitrate of 8-12 Mbps for the full transmission range, and Smooth Mode, which dynamically adjusts the bitrate to maintain the lowest latency across that transmission range.
The monitor also offers support for focus assist, waveform, zebra patterns, false color, image overlay, and the loading of custom 3D LUTs to view video files in the set color palette.
It also supports importing screenshots and overlaying them with the current video recording for replication and reshoots, saving time.
Other features include a USB Type-C connection, HDMI output/loopout, and SDI input/output. With an external SD card slot for loading LUTs or direct video file export, the Pyro 7 can create customized folders to keep files clean and organized according to the project’s post-production workflow.
The Pyro 7 is super bright, offering a display with 1200 nits of brightness with a 1000:1 contrast ratio that can be adjusted for optimal visual performance.
Other models in the Pyro family, including the Pyro S and Pyro H, can also be connected, as well as mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones.
The Pyro 7 is powered through a 10-18V locking DC power connection but can also go wireless with an NP-F battery plate and an optional V-Mount Battery Plate.
Pricing and Availability
The Hollyland Pyro 7 Wireless video monitor is available beginning July 25, 2024, through Hollyland Direct, its authorized retailers, and Amazon.com for a retail price of $549 or a complete kit for between $899-999.
