Sony ZV-E10 II Promises to Elevate Your Vlogging

Sony has introduced the second generation ZV-E10 II mirrorless camera, which is designed with new features and tools specifically for daily content creators and vloggers.

This APS-C camera has an improved E mount PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS II lens.

The camera’s mirrorless design includes optimized video streaming and vlogging tools in a compact, pocket-sized package with enhanced audio.

The E10II is powered by a new APS-C 26MP Exmor R CMOS backside-illuminated sensor and BIONZ XR processor, providing up to eight times greater performance for capturing 4K video at 60 frames per second from a 5.6K oversampled signal.

This is the same sensor that Sony uses in the FX30 cinema camera, providing exceptional cinematic performance in a more compact form factor.

The sensor has an ISO range of 100-32000, expandable to 102400. The camera can record 10-bit 4:2:2 video at up to 600 Mb/s and can capture in S-Cinetone, S-Gamut2, and S-Log 3 codecs for 14 stops of dynamic range and improved color science.

The camera can also capture in XAVC HS and S-I formats for 1080p HD video at up to 120 frames per second.

Professional tools are also available with assignable support for LUTs and preset Creative Looks that can be applied in-camera for a more cinematic look. Still images in burst modes of up to 11 frames per second can also be captured.

The camera features the same 3-capsule microphone as its predecessor but also supports external audio options through its 3.5mm minijack and Sony’s improved digital audio interface hot shoe.

This supports the Sony ECM-M1, ECM-B1M, or ECM-S1 Wireless Streaming Microphone for professional-quality sound.

The ZV-E10 II design includes a new AI Processing Unit using advanced subject recognition algorithms for real-time subject tracking and Real Eye AF autofocus from its 759-point focal plane phase-detection technology.

It can detect and lock onto Humans, Animals, and Birds with real-time tracking and locking focus while the subject is on the move.

The new system offers faster autofocus with better efficiency and includes Focus Breathing Compensation with enhanced bokeh defocusing modes.

Other features include a new 3″ 1.4 million-dot vari-angle touchscreen LCD, capable of displaying video shooting in vertical video aspect ratios.

The camera also has a USB-C port, a single UHS-II SD memory card slot, and 5GHz WiFi with support for RTMP, RTMPS, and SRT streaming protocols and UVC standards.

In terms of battery life, the E10 II requires the larger capacity NP-FZ100 to power its design but offers a 30% increase in battery life. This means it can capture up to 610 shots per charge with all-day video recording.

E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS II

Sony has paired the E10 II with a new kit lens, known as the E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS II APS-C E mount lens.

This lens offers an equivalent focal length of 24-75mm, with improved optics that provide sharper resolution and more accurate colors.

The lens is 8 percent lighter and provides improved image stabilization as a result.

Pricing and availability

The Sony ZV-E10 II is available now for preorder at a retail price of $1098.00 and comes with the E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS II or body only for $100 less.

The lens is also available separately for $299. The camera is available in either Black or White and will ship in August 2024.

Now granted, the Sony ZV-E10 II retails for about $200 more.

But with its larger size, improved image quality and resolution, as well as increased battery life, it just may qualify as an ideal upgrade to make.
