Insta360 has introduced the new Flow Pro Gimbal Stabilizer, the first handheld device incorporating Apple’s new DockKit subject tracking technology.
This technology allows for more precise subject identification and tracking from the iPhone’s native camera app and over 200 third-party camera apps, effectively transforming the device into a handheld stabilizer and camera operator in your pocket.
Apple Driven
The Apple DockKit subject tracking technology, first unveiled at this year’s World Wide Developer’s Conference, leverages the power of the iPhone to accurately track a subject through either the front or rear camera, ensuring that the subject remains in sight and in focus at all times.
JK Liu, founder of Insta360, mentioned, “By integrating DockKit, Apple’s subject-tracking technology, and continuing to improve our leading AI technology, Flow Pro offers an even more seamless way to track, edit, and film.”
In combination with Insta360’s Deep Track 3.0, an AI tracking algorithm designed to follow the user or the desired subject, the Apple DockKit technology can identify a subject in a complex environment and seamlessly track them with a full 360° rotation and three-axis control for exceptionally smooth shots.
The technology is available through over 200 applications, including Facetime, Zoom, TikTok, and others. Through the marriage of these two technologies, users of the Flow Pro are secure in the knowledge that they can freely move around a space and create videos, live stream, or simply conduct a video call completely hands-free.
Automatic Pairing
Users can easily connect their smartphone to the Insta360 FlowPro gimbal with one-tap pairing through the iPhone’s NFC (near-field communications) function.
Simply place the phone near the gimbal, turn it on, and the Flow Pro will automatically establish a connection with the phone. After the initial pairing, the Flow Pro will automatically reconnect with the iPhone whenever it is on and within range.
Once connected, users can attach the iPhone using the Flow Pro’s magnetic phone clamp or the optional MagSafe-compatible phone mount for quick snap-on integration, enabling users to start shooting within seconds and ensuring no special moment is missed.
The Flow Pro also has a cold show mount for attaching of an optional Spotlight video light, or external microphone.
The Flow Pro gimbal features a retractable selfie extension that extends up to 215 mm for better selfies, group shots, and low-angle image capture.
The gimbal can be folded to fit perfectly into a pocket or handbag and then quickly unfolded for rapid deployment and recording. Once ready to edit, Insta360’s AI editing tools can put together a custom highlight video for quick sharing with a variety of social media outlets.
Additionally, the Flow Pro comes equipped with a built-in mini tripod in the handle, turning the gimbal into a camera platform for shooting motion-tracked selfies or time lapses with 360° precision.
The gimbal’s 2900 mAh battery provides a battery life of up to ten hours of continuous shooting, ensuring all-day power. The charging time is approximately two hours to recharge the gimbal fully.
