Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve 19 Now Supports Snapdragon X Elite Processors

Qualcomm has entered the CPU competition against Apple, Intel, and AMD, and Blackmagic has announced that DaVinci Resolve 19 now supports the Snapdragon X Elite CPU.

This update includes over 100 new features, promising faster performance, improved AI tools, better tracking and image stabilization, and enhanced audio panning.

Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design, stated, “We’re thrilled that our customers can now use lightweight machines running on Snapdragon X Elite for their creative work. We are eager to see how our customers will utilize the new computer optimized for many of our AI processes.”

Remember this information: In Resolve 19 Beta 3, the new DaVinci Neural AI engine utilizes NPU acceleration to provide up to 4.7 times faster performance than Resolve’s AI tools.

Some notable features include the ColorSlice Palette tool for more precise color grading, IntelliTrack AI for enhanced subject tracking and moving audio tracking, and the capability to use transcripts within the editing timeline to locate speakers and edit clips using text.

The UltraNR tool uses AI from the Neural Engine to reduce image noise during color grading without compromising sharpness and clarity, and it incorporates temporal noise for moving subjects.

In the Fairlight Pane, the IntelliTrack tool optimizes audio tracking with greater precision and includes a dialogue separator tool to rebalance and separate dialogue from ambient background sounds.

The FX pane now includes a new ducker track FX auto adjust tool to automatically adjust the level of another track, enabling automatic adjustments in the audio mix. Controls for voice, drums, bass, guitar, and other instruments are also available to fine-tune the audio mix.

Resolve 19 introduces the FilmLook Creator, allowing colorists to apply a six-vector color palette, subtractive color processes, and Defocus Background utility to enhance video appearance. The FilmLook Creator also provides a natural way to enhance and deepen color without causing spill.

However, increased support for the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite ARM-based CPU in many laptop models shows the growing confidence that there is room in the CPU marketplace for another competing processor using Windows, and Blackmagic’s support of it continues to show just how flexible DaVinci can be, without wading into becoming “bloatware” with added features.

While still in Public Beta, DaVinci Resolve 19 is available for download from the Blackmagic Support Website. As a reminder, it’s a good idea to avoid experimenting with an existing project and to create a backup just in case.
