Sigma Adds 28-45mm F1.8 to Its Art Lens Lineup

Sigma has just announced the addition of a new 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN lens to its Art Lens lineup.

Designed with a full-frame image space, the lens promises an expanded focal range and magnification factor, plus a cinematic depth of field for extreme up-close capture.

The Art Lens Line was developed with content creators in mind, especially those who rely on a moving camera. The lenses are compact, and light, and travel more easily than single prime lenses without sacrificing that trademark professional look.

This is largely thanks to Sigma’s incorporation of both aspherical and low dispersion lens elements for extreme sharpness and accurate color. Plus, the lenses offer minimal focus breathing for those video-centric creators.

With this design in mind, the Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN Art Lens has all the hallmarks of a prominent addition to the Art Lens line.

It features 18 elements organized in 15 groups, with three aspherical and five special low dispersion (SLD) elements which provide the added advantage of suppression of lens flare, aberration, and ghosting.

The lens also has an 11-bladed lens aperture that produces a rounded, large bokeh that is smooth when used wide open.

The combination creates a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4 and a minimum focusing distance of 11.9 inches (302mm) across the lens’ entire focal length, plus a fast aperture rating of F1.8.

In addition to minimizing focus breathing, video creators will certainly appreciate the high response linear actuator (HLA) motors that are as nimble and fast, as they are quiet and accurate.

Camera operators can also switch to manual focus at the touch of a button and de-click the aperture ring for an added measure of silence.

Other features include two AFL buttons, multi-layer and nano-porous optical coatings, and a water and oil-repellent coating on the front lens element. The lens is also dust and splash-resistant and enjoys a durable, brass bayonet mount.

The lens is 87..8mm (3.5 in) x 151.4 (6 in), and weighs 960 g (33.9 oz). It also has an 82 mm lens filter size;
