Hollyland, a Chinese film tech company, has launched a new dual-band 4K wireless video monitoring system.
The Pyro S Series of video monitors can switch between 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequencies and provides encrypted video transmission at distances of up to 1300 feet (400m).
This system aims to offer the latest wireless video transmission protocols to small or medium crews at an affordable price.
The Pyro S system utilizes Auto Dual Band Detect Frequency Hopping (ADH) technology to ensure stable video quality at a stable HD bitrate of 8-12 Mbps with frame rates of up to 30 fps. It can connect to four separate 4K monitors in broadcast mode.
The Pyro ADH Wireless technology ensures better signal transmission and reliability, with a minimal latency of only 50ms, ensuring real-time monitoring for all involved in the production.
The Pyro S offers multiple connectivity options, including HDMI, SDI, and Loopout, with USB Video Class and real-time messaging protocols (RTMP) for easy configuration and compatibility.
Users can connect the camera and transmitter via HDMI in/out or SDI in/out, as per the camera operator’s specific needs. Wireless connections can also be made with mobile devices including tablets and smartphones using the UVC protocol.
Users can optimize the video signal by choosing either “smooth mode” or HD mode, which adjusts frame or bit rate, latency, video clarity, and resolution in exchange for ultra-long-distance transmission, while still maintaining a stable bitrate of between 8-12 Mbps at the 1300 foot range.
Broadcast mode enables multiple receivers but cuts the range in half, and transmission is based on line-of-sight.
The Pyro S is constructed with an aircraft-grade magnesium/aluminum alloy, to keep the system light without sacrificing durability.
The device also has an auto-adjustable cooling system which can effectively dissipate heat as needed, or maintain the lowest possible setting in low-speed mode when keeping fans quiet is vital.
The Pyro H and Pyro S monitors deliver vivid color from their 7-inch LCD. The menu user interface is easy to navigate and see from its ultra-bright monitor. Power can be supplied via AC or through Sony NP batteries.
Pricing and availability:
The Hollyland Pyro S Wireless Video Transmission system is available now from Hollyland’s Amazon store and authorized local distributors for a retail price of $699, which includes both the transmitter and receiver modules. Each can also be purchased separately for $349 each.
