Mobile content creators, citizen journalists, and even wedding videographers now have a valuable tool to manage original camera files in the Cloud.
MiMojo is a new iPhone app that has been developed to enable content creators to upload their footage to the cloud and then alter its’ format or begin the post-production process.
The app is geared to make it easy to upload mobile video, complete with metadata, over cellular networks. The app also enables the content creators to earmark specific clips within the camera file to upload, so that impact on data caps or network speeds is kept to a minimum.
Moreover, the files can be trimmed while maintaining the uncompressed resolution of the original camera files, eliminating compression artifacts, so that smaller files are sent or files timing out because they are too big.
Creators can choose to alter the compression of the video files in order to send a smaller, proxy file as well, or when connecting to a wifi network with a larger bandwidth to send the unaltered original camera file.
MiMojo also enables users to earmark files by project or team member, with those members having full permission to alter the format, frame rate, and resolution to make the files compatible with the existing workflow. The content creator will then receive status notifications as changes are made, enabling them to monitor the post-production process.
Users can also create custom metadata forms, enabling the picking of specific data fields that meet the needs of a given project. The footage is then encrypted and uploaded securely to MiMojo’s servers, where they can be accessed by assigned team members.
Lastly, MiMojo is part of the Content Authenticity Initiative, which monitors and verifies that the original footage is real and unaltered, or is not a part of some deep fakery that could mislead.
Mimojo has three different paid tiers, plus a free tier for those looking to take it for a test drive. The Free Tier offers a 2GB file size limit, and a 14-day storage window. Free users can trim video for upload, adjust compression and send basic metadata. They can also track downloads as needed.
The Professional tier starts at $12/a month, which offers a 200GB of file size limit and 1TB of storage.
The Business and Enterprise tiers are $23 a month and provide unlimited file upload and storage along with access to all available features including the assignment manager, custom metadata form, and transcode settings (also available for the pro tier). A yearly subscription will provide a 20% discount.
Currently, in Beta, the company states it plans to roll out the service this summer. Those interested in Mimojo can sign up for more information by going to Mimojo.co/sign-up or keep up with the company’s progress on Twitter at @MiMojoCo.
