Canon R6 MK II Rumored Price Emerges

The retail price for the upcoming Canon R6 MK II full frame mirrorless camera has surfaced, with an additional premium to unlock stop motion animation support.

The projected cost of the Canon RF 135mm F1.8 L and the RF 24-105mm F4 L have also leaked before the product launch. The Canon R6 Mk. II is rumored to be on the verge of being announced as the replacement for the original Canon R series mirrorless camera.

The newcomer is believed to have a full frame 24MP CMOS image sensor with a DIGIC X processor and a hybrid autofocus design with dual pixel Raw for adjusting image quality and sharpness after capturing the image.

In this technique, the camera actually takes two images, which are then compared for slightly different views seen in each. A depth map can be embedded in the RAW file, meaning subtle adjustments can be made to the end result based on this 3D data.

The camera will be capable of capturing 4K video at 30 frames per second or 60 frames per second in cropped mode.

Unfortunately, the rumors persist that the R6 MK II will not have the second generation Dual Pixel Autofocus, instead relying on the original DPAF scheme.

However, it is believed to have a virtual teleconverter that promises to digitally double lens focal length.

One higher-end possibility is that the R6II will support Canon Log 3/HDR PQ and will also support cloud-based RAW image processing through a WiFi connection.

According to Canon Rumors, the premiere rumor site for all things from Lake Success, the Canon R6 MK II will have a retail price of $2,499, with an additional premium price of $100 to unlock support for shooting stop motion animation.

This is an interesting feature considering that computer-generated animation has all but replaced SMA as the titular technique for creating animation in the motion picture industry.

Rumors also persist that Canon will announce the R6 Mk. II with a pair of RF lenses including the Canon RF 135mm F1.8L, at a price of $2099, and the Canon RF 24-105mm F4LIS STM kit lens which will be available with the camera body for $3,599.

An adjustable aperture version of the 24-105mm LIS STM kit with an aperture range of F4-7.1 will also be available at $2,799.

Canon is also believed to be announcing a next-generation Canon Speedlite EL-5 flash for $399. Canon Rumors also reports that the announcement of the R6 Mk. II will take place on November 2, 2022. So, only about 48 hours from now.
