Pergear Direct has announced competitively priced 1TB and 2TB Type B CFExpress Memory cards capable of minimum sustained read/write speeds of up to 1300MB/S for the Ultra Performance Model. The cards come with a five-year warranty and are designed for high-resolution video production.
The Pergear CFE-B Ultra cards are designed for up to 8K Raw video recording at 30 frames per second, 5.5K Raw at 60 frames per second, or 4K ALL-I recording at up to 120 frames per second.
The cards have been tested for high-capacity, long-form video files, mainly on Canon platforms (save the R5C, which is currently being tested) but should have similar performance on other camera platforms which support Type B at those levels of performance.
A list of supported camera models also includes the Nikon Z6, Z6 II, Z7, Z7 II, Z9, and D500, the Panasonic S1, and S1R.
In the mid-range, there are the Pergear CFE-B Pro models, which are capable of capturing video with sustained read/write speeds of up to 1200 MB/S and 360MB/S respectively.
Most likely, these models are suitable for capturing up to 4k video at 120 frames per second, but could conceivably handle 8K video at 30 frames per second for short clips.
On the lower end, Perfear offers the Lite CFE-B models, which can capture video at 80 MB/s and read data at a maximum sustained speed of 300 MB/s. These are good for low bit rates of 2K and 1080p HD video capture.
The Pro and Lite models, however, are limited to up to 512GB in capacity, while the Ultra models top out at 2TB. With a five-year warranty, Pergear says that the Type B media cards are designed to withstand harsh shooting conditions of shock, x-rays, extreme temperatures, and magnets.
The 2TB Pergear Type B CFExpress Memory card is available for purchase for $599, which is nearly a third less than the price of competing Angelbird and Exascend models.
There is also a bundle that includes a Thunderbolt 3 reader and USB 3.2 Gen 2 cable for $619 and ensures that users will be able to take advantage of the maximum available read speeds when ingesting data into the post-production workflow.
The media cards are available from Pergear Direct.
