YoloLiv has created a turnkey multi-camera solution for streaming live to social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. The YoLiv Instream Streaming Studio provides a variety of broadcast and streaming tools designed specifically to support the vertical format of these mobile-centric platforms.
YoloLiv says that over 75% of current online content is consumed through the vertical video format, rather than the traditional 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio made popular by screens and TVs.
YoloLiv has replaced that old-school format with a contemporary, social media-centric 9:16 vertical aspect ratio, which has exploded on every social media platform including even Facebook and YouTube.
YoloLiv says that with an audience now predominantly browsing vertically, Instream Studio creates videos that match that experience.
Aimed at a new generation of content creators and influencers who tell their stories through popular mobile platforms, the Instream Streaming Studio is a seven-inch box that houses a host of live tools including a live video encoder, broadcast switcher, graphics generator, multiview builder, and a monitor/recorder, all working in concert through a YoloLiv’s vertical content creation software to produce live streaming content for both Instagram and TikTok.
The Instream device is powered by an 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, making it the most powerful streaming device YoloLiv has ever made. This kind of power not only supports multi-camera inputs but also professional features such as Chroma Key and Picture in Picture in real-time.
With two HDMI inputs and 1 USB input for connecting cameras and other devices, including smartphones, the device can handle multiple camera and SD card inputs. Plus it supports WiFi, 4G LTE, and Ethernet connections.
With its seven-inch 600 nit LCD touchscreen, users can operate the Android-centric device much like a smartphone and control the various tools in real-time as the stream goes live. The Instream also has a large battery which keeps the stream online for up to three hours.
Traditional streaming options through smartphones are limited to a single camera angle, and third-party software like OBS Studio has a learning curve that some find too steep and complicated.
Instream gives users the best of both worlds providing the broadcast options of OBS studio, with the mobility and convenience of a smartphone-sized device.
Instream can be used to go live on a variety of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, with Snapchat coming soon, along with the ability to take phone calls live on the air.
YoloLiv also handles the entire backend streaming without the need for computers or third-party connections, which are subject to security issues or adherence to compliance rules.
We reached out to YoloLiv about pricing and availability and will update this article when that information becomes available. Meantime, it looks like Instream Studio could place an entire live broadcast truck into a content creator’s back pocket.
