I think it is safe to assume that if you are a filmmaker you probably get a lot of enjoyment in watching movies and TV shows. Hopefully that means you have a half-decent home theater. The unfortunate part of that viewing experience is that you can’t take it on the road. Or can you?
Filmmaker Peter Lindgren has an idea that revolves around the Anker Nebula Cosmos Laser 4K Projector. Being a portable and capable projector system, Lindgren uses it as the core of a fun, portable theater experience that he can take practically everywhere – even in the middle of the woods.
I’m not sure if many people are fans of projectors. I know I wasn’t until very recently. The image from a projector just doesn’t look great when compared to TVs unless you can set up a perfect viewing environment.
And most of us don’t have the time, space, or money to do that. Peter was in the same place until he checked out this Anker laser projector.
Laser projectors can create much better images than older styles. He also was a fan of the projector’s design. This Anker projector is also very portable.
Heavy, so maybe don’t backpack it in, but bringing it out into the backyard or in your car for a camping trip is doable.
Another thing about the Nebula is that you can get a 4K Streaming Dongle that allows you to transform the projector into a smart TV. You can stream all your apps to it after this. It sets up quickly too. The projector will auto-align with whatever screen or space you have and can create an image up to 150”.
The image just looks great as well and gets very bright – assuming you don’t have an excess of ambient light. Where it was surprising is in the audio quality. The Nebula is the speaker and does a very good job of creating a full soundscape, including deep bass.
For additional connectivity, there is a standard HDMI port for hooking up any media player or gaming console.
Peter’s first tests were shown off in the middle of the woods as he was out camping. That’s just awesome if you can do it. Moving into the studio for a more controlled environment to examine the image he was also impressed.
If you want to enjoy films anywhere you go with excellent quality the Anker Nebula Cosmos is a great option. It’s a lot of fun. You may even want to consider it for a bedroom or other space where you can’t have a TV permanently installed.
What do you think? Would you try to create a portable home theater?
