Barely a month has passed since Venus Optics announced their super compact Laowa Nanomorephic Anamorphic cine primes with orange or blue lens flaring. Now, the company is adding a third option to the mix with a neural Silver flare design.
With the main goal of providing cine prime and other lenses that promise to be “truly unique, practical, and affordable.” The Laowa Nanomorph anamorphic prime lineup is designed to be compact and ideal for smaller form camera platforms like mirrorless or DSLR platforms.
The world’s tiniest 1.5x constant squeeze lenses are available in 27mm T2.8, 35mm T2.4, and 50mm T2.4 focal lengths. They provide an amber or blue lens flare, and an anamorphic optical structure with a constant 1.5x optical squeeze.
The lenses are also very flexible thanks to interchangeable lens mounts and support for Canon EF and R mounts, PL Mounts, Sony E, DJI DL, Nikon Z, Micro four-thirds, and Fuji X mounts.
So the ability to use the Nanomorph lens family across a vast array of camera platforms provides a near unlimited amount of creative options for an independent filmmaker.
The Super35mm format lenses have 15 elements, divided into 13 groups, and offer a 13-bladed aperture iris for nice rounded bokeh.
They operate at a constant t aperture that starts at T2.8 for the 27mm, and T2.4 for the 35mm and 50mm lenses. The aperture tops out at T16.
Meanwhile, the minimum focusing distance is about 16.9” for the 27mm, 23.6” for the 35mm, and 27.5” for the 50mm. The front diameter is 58mm and it has a filter thread of 55mm. The overall length is between 3.54-3.94 inches, making the Nanomorph a truly compact optical platform with plenty of punch.
Now, Venus Optics is adding a third lens flare option, with a neutral silver flare, which gives camera operators even greater control over the cinematic look of the image in the frame.
As we wrote in the previous announcement, which included a trailer video, the Nanomorph anamorphic lenses “look to provide some splendid color, with minimal distortion, and just enough lens flare to make JJ Abrams stand up and take notice.”
How backers get the silver option, is to choose blue, then go to the Google Form link on the Indiegogo page, and select the silver option. The normal retail price will be $999 for mirrorless mounts and $1499 for EF and PL Mounts.
The 3-lens bundle will be $2699 and $3999 respectively and will come with a protective case. Venus Optics is also including the Nanomorph Silver series as part of the overall crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, where backers can still take advantage of 10% off Earlybird pricing. Shipping is expected to begin in August.
