Autel Robotics Firmware Update Improves Tracking in EVO Drones

Autel Robotics’ latest firmware update to their EVO Lite drones has brought dynamic tracking plus a host of other performance improvements to the entire line. With this update, the EVO Lite joins the Lite + model to enable the tracking feature.

The Autel EVO Lite series of drones look strangely in the form of the DJI Mavic UAV, with retractable motor arms and such features like obstacle avoidance and now dynamic tracking. The UAV is capable of shooting up to 6K video at 30 fps and can stay aloft for up to 40 minutes on a full charge. The drone recently won a T3 Platinum Award as one of the best drones in its category.

Through the Autel Sky app, drone operators will not only be able to identify and track subjects but also do so in smart-following mode. The Lite also gets a new object avoidance feature for smart navigation around potential obstructions.

Furthermore, the Lite also gets a new Electronic Image Stabilization feature to better stabilize the image in windier conditions or when the operator is making sudden control inputs while hovering or when shooting hyperlapse. The 4 axis gimbal can also be used to control the image when shooting vertical video.

The EVO Nano and Lite series can now also now shoot in an enhanced user mode when shooting in video and pro mode, which gains the option of professional parameters while shooting. The landing mode has also been stabilized for better handling during the final descent.

Finally, the Autel Sky App gains a 60fps option for video transmission, and Autel has patched bugs that created errors including a DNG file color error, a photo number display error in the App, an auto exposure lock error in the camera, errors in Hyperlapse, and other minor camera issues.

The updated features are available now for the EVO Lite and Lite+ drones in version V1.3.27, and Nano and Nano+ drones in V1.3.26. To update, users need to update the Autel Sky App first before the over-the-air firmware upgrade can be made.
