Dell has announced the next in their line of powerful, yet sleek and lightweight laptops designed for professionals who want to stay mobile without sacrificing performance. The Dell XPS 13 Plus is the first in Dell’s line to utilize Intel’s 28-watt 12th Gen Intel Core processor, nearly doubling the power of the previous model.
With a 13.4” 4K high-resolution OLED display, the XPS13+ incorporates Dell InfinityEdge display technology that makes the screen nearly bezel-less from edge to edge. With an HDR brightness upwards of 500 nits, the display maintains 90% of DCI-P3 color accuracy at 4K, but users can reach 100% by choosing either the option of a 3.5K resolution LCD or two different 1080p FHD+ options, which provide touchscreen capability, as well.
As for storage, the XPS13+ comes with RAM configurations from 8GB to 32GB, and SSD storage options from 256GB to 2TB. Dell has chosen to go with Intel’s Iris Xe GPU for graphics processing, which isn’t going to do editors any favors when working on 4K video.
Furthermore, there’s no alternative GPU configuration, so if 4K video editing is the goal, then looking at the Alienware gaming line provides greater performance.
The XPS13+ keyboard is a zero lattice design with a single capacitive touch function key row, which also incorporates a biometric fingerprint reader. However, don’t be fooled by the look of no trackpad. The trackpad is actually built into the wrist rest of the laptop and offers haptic feedback.
For ports, the XPS13+ offers two Thunderbolt 4 ports (USB Type-C) with DisplayPort and Power Delivery, plus a standard USB-C to USB-A v3.0 adapter is available. Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 (2×2) and Bluetooth 5.2 provide wireless connectivity.
Battery life clocks in at 14 hours, while it uses Dell’s Express Charge 2.0 technology to boost recharging speeds dramatically. In less than an hour, the notebook can charge up to 80% capacity.
And while the laptop has been redesigned to be an ultra-thin “minimalist and modern” look, air cooling hasn’t been sacrificed thanks to larger fans for 55% better airflow.
The retail price of the Dell XPS 13 Plus laptop starts at $1,300, with optional screen, storage, and RAM configurations that can raise the price to over $2,000. Shipping now. Users can fit out their ideal XPS13 Plus at Dell’s website.
