FilmConvert has once again expanded their camera pack film look toolset by adding RED Komodo to their catalog. The camera pack mimics what the image of the 6K Komodo would look like, if it was shot on film, rather than digitally.
The RED Komodo shoots in 6K at 40fps with a 19.9 global shutter that yields up to 16 stops of dynamic range 5K/48p, 4K/60p, and 2K/120p are also available. Using REDCODE RAW, the Komodo has excellent image consistency over the entire image sensor, with no rolling shutter artifacts.
The camera pack will certainly enable color graders to squeeze out every available pixel of image data from the Raw image and will make it look like it was shot on film.
FilmConvert accomplishes this through the exhaustive shooting of film for its emulsion characteristics and then scanning them into a computer for a grainy look that can be applied over any video file in your favorite NLE using the FilmConvert Nitrate plugin, or through FilmConvert’s Cinematch.
The camera pack is part of FilmConvert’s 10th-anniversary birthday celebration sale and is available as a free download on FilmConvert’s camera packs page. CineMatch will require an updated installer from the downloads page in order to reflect the new Komodo camera pack.
Both FilmConvert Nitrate and CineMatch are currently on sale for 40% off. The sale ends on April 12th.
