Color gives stories their character and allows editors and content creators to develop their own cinematic style. Building on decades of Adobe color science, the Lumetri tools make color grading an integral part of video editing in Premiere Pro, with
advanced controls that are approachable and fast.
Adobe pushes the envelope of this technology even further by introducing a new tool for applying intelligent color corrections with a single click called Auto Tone. Now in Premiere Pro Beta, Auto Tone adjustments are reflected in the Basic Correction sliders at the top of the Lumetri panel, allowing users to easily fine-tune results and fast track their color correction.
For newer users, Auto Tone can also act as a guide to help them become familiar with the Lumetri tools. Unlike the previous Auto button, the new Auto Tone feature uses all of the Basic Correction settings, providing more nuanced results that will continue to improve over time as the algorithm evolves.
To try out this new functionality, you’ll need to install Premiere Pro (Beta) from the Beta apps tab in Creative Cloud Desktop. As currently implemented, Auto Tone analyzes the unaltered source images and should be applied before adding other color effects. Auto Tone is not currently compatible with log-encoded video or log-to-Rec709 LUTs.
