If you are in the market for an extremely fast APS-C lens, you should definitely check out the latest offering by Venus Optics. Available in Sony E, Canon R, Nikon Z, and Fuji X mounts, the brand new Laowa Argus 33mm F0.95 comes with a unique focal length while delivering more than impressive low light performance.
You’ll also get a step-less aperture ring for flawless and noise-free adjustments. The unit weighs in at 20.81 oz (590g) and is about 3″ in length. It is also the first Venus Optics lens part of the new Argus series designed to cover different-sized sensors including MFT, APS-C, and full-frame.
When it comes to optical design, the all-new Laowa Argus 33mm F0.95 consists of 14 elements in 9 groups with a single ED and aspherical element along with three refraction elements to reduce ghosting. The lens offers a minimum focusing distance of 1.1′ (35cm) along with a 62mm filter thread.
According to Venus Optics, the newcomer delivers exception image quality at wide-open and suppresses the chromatic aberration to the minimal. The fast aperture, on the other hand, makes handheld shooting at low light situations much easier and effective.
