Sony has just introduced three brand new E-Mount prime lenses with extremely compact and lightweight design. The Sony 24mm F2.8 G, Sony 40mm F2.5 G, and the Sony 50mm F2.5 G feature a de-clickable iris, a focus hold button, MF/AF switch as well an aperture click switch.
Users can customize the focus hold button by assigning a preferred function directly from the camera’s menu. Each unit sports dual linear motors for fast and reliable autofocus for both stills and video. Additionally, all three lenses have the same size (68mm diameter x 45mm) and front filter diameter (49mm) while weighing at around 170 g. They are also dust and moisture-resistant which makes them well protected when used in harsh conditions.

The FE 24mm f/2.8 G optical design consists of 9 elements in 9 groups and has 7 aperture blades. Balancing the optics is an XD Linear Motor system that uses two separate focusing motors to deliver especially quiet, precise, and quick autofocus performance.

The FE 40mm f/2.5 G is a classic wide normal focal length prime that has the same optical design as its siblings where the rounded 7-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality when shooting wide open.
The unit has also been designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, however, it can be used with APS-C models as well providing a 60mm equivalent focal length.

The FE 50mm f/2.5 G optical design also consists of 9 elements in 9 groups and has 7 aperture blades. It also includes extra-low dispersion and aspherical elements to reduce a variety of aberrations, color fringing, and distortion.
Nano AR Coating II has been applied to reduce surface reflections, flare, and ghosting for increased contrast and color rendering in strong lighting conditions.
