Sony to Announce a Brand New Alpha Series Camera on Jan 26th

This imminent announcement was circulating around the camera rumor mill for a while and now Sony has made it official. On January 26th at 10 AM (EST time) the company will release a brand new mirrorless camera.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have a clue what this camera will be, besides the fact that we should expect another member of the Sony Alpha series billed as “the one never seen”.

Some rumors suggest that this might be the next iteration of the Sony a9 II that will boast a 50-megapixel FF sensor, internal 8K video recording up to 30fps, and similar A7S III specs.

Could this be a direct Canon EOS R5 competitor? At this stage, we can’t know for sure. The most eager of us should wait another four days to find out.

Meanwhile, you can set a reminder on YouTube or simply re-visit this page next Tuesday at 10 am EST when the actual online camera announcement will take place.
