Ninja V Now Officially Supports 5.9K RAW Recording from the Panasonic S1H

After the recent pre-release beta firmware version that enabled 5.9K RAW from the Panasonic S1H on the Ninja V, today Atomos has officially released its free AtomOS update that allows S1H users to record the RAW signal coming out of their favorite full-frame camera.

With this update, Ninja V and Panasonic S1H users will be able to record 12-bit RAW video directly from the full-frame sensor of the S1H over HDMI at up to 5.9K/29.97p in Full Frame, or 4K/59.94p in Super 35 mode.

The resulting ProRes RAW files allow for greater creativity in post-production with perfect skin tones and easily matched colors, ideal for both HDR and SDR (Rec.709) workflows. Other than that, users can take advantage of the new 3.5K Super 35 Anamorphic 4:3 RAW mode available with this setup.

There’s also a dedicated LUT exclusively designed for RAW video recorded on Ninja V that allows users to match the color grading with V-Log/V-Gamut2. With this look-up table, one can also easily match colors between the footage captured on other Panasonic cameras such as the Varicam, EVA1, and GH5 series.

Ninja V users can download the free AtomOS update for their monitor-recorder directly from the Atomos website right away.
