3 Must-Have Accessories for Your Sony Camera

A lot of the time, improving your workflow or shooting experience just takes an accessory or two. Sony cameras in particular are lucky in that tons of new products have been launched in the past few years to match the mirrorless system’s growing popularity. Almost too many items to choose from.

For a little bit of guidance, Sidney Diongzon has a list of his top three accessories that he uses in his workflow. He even runs through all the best features of each item.

The worst thing to happen is you go to shoot something and all your batteries are dead. That is why number one on the list is the hahnel PROCUBE2 battery charger.

It’s quite small, meaning it’ll fit easily on a desk. Also, it’ll charge two batteries simultaneously and has a display to tell you the current charge percentage.

Other useful features are the replaceable battery plates, allowing it to charge up four AA batteries as well as different types of Sony batteries.

It’ll work with the NP-FZ100 used in current a7 series models, the NP-FW50 found in some APS-C models and older a7 cameras, and the NP-BX1 found in a few point-and-shoots. On top of this, it has a USB port on the back so you can charge basically anything else you need.

Next up is the Sony RMT-P1BT Wireless Commander Remote. This will give you wireless control over your camera. While being able to hit record remotely is an obvious advantage of having this remote, it’ll also control some other functions.

You can swap it from movie to stills mode and then control zoom and focus with compatible cameras and lenses, activate the AF, and a custom button. It also has a red indicator light that can function as a tally light. This is a very helpful option for recording video with mirrorless cameras that lack this feature.

The final accessory is one of the coolest for vlogging. The GP-VPT2BT Shooting Grip provides many of the wireless controls of the just mentioned remote, but can also work as a small tripod or handgrip.

The Sony camera will just fit right on top via the tripod socket and you have a go-to handheld shooting platform. It’s quite adjustable as well and being able to set it down whenever you want makes it exceptionally versatile.

Do you have any awesome accessories for your Sony camera that you just can’t live without?
