Canon EOS C300 Mark III Announced – Super 35 DGO Sensor, 4K 120p Raw Video, HDR and More

The long-awaited and highly rumored Canon C300 Mark III is finally here! The just-announced EOS camera features a Super 35mm Dual Gain Output sensor with up to 16 stops of high dynamic range capability for superior HDR recording and low noise.

Beyond that, the camera sports Canon DiGIC DV7 image processor allowing internal DCI-compliant 4K Raw recording up to 120fps using dual CFexpress slots (SD card slot is also available). Users can also record up to 180fps in 2K cropped mode. C300 Mark III comes equipped with an EF lens mount that is interchangeable with a separately available PL mount which can be performed by the end-user.

For more flexibility during post-production, the EOS C300 III also offers Canon’s Log 2 and Log 3 gamma modes. Additionally, the camera supports custom user LUTs that can be utilized on monitors, LCD, or viewfinder to ensure the most accurate color.

Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF (autofocus) support, on the other hand, not only provides accurate autofocus in real-time, but it also features touch AF and face detection.

The newcomer utilizes Canon’s Cinema RAW Light and XF-AVC recording formats, providing DCI 4K images with a 10-bit, 4:2:2 Long GOP codec. Proxy recording is also supported.

Furthermore, the camera features up to 12G-SDI output over a single BNC cable, timecode I/O, and genlock input BNCs. It supports up to 4-channel audio using the internal mic, mini-mic input, and XLR ports, and an expansion unit can be added to support up to four XLR inputs.

The body has a modular design that can either be stripped down completely or be built up using the included handle, 4.3″ rotating touchscreen LCD unit with full controls, grip, and thumb rest.

Other noteworthy features include HDR-PQ output, 5-axis electronic image stabilization (EIS), Internal ND filters, compatibility with EF and PL lenses as well as anamorphic and spherical lenses, proxy recording and more.
