New for IBC 2019, Wooden Camera announces two new 26V battery plates in collaboration with Anton Bauer. Wooden Camera has been on a roll lately, as the company has already announced a ton of new gear for IBC 2019 – read more about it here.
The new Wooden Camera 26V Battery Plates have been designed for the ARRI ALEXA LF, 65, and ALEXA SXT cameras, which require more than 19V for proper operation. Reduced current when using higher voltage batteries allows for cooler operation and low energy loss with long cables.
The Wooden Camera/Anton Bauer 26V Gold Mount Plus (for Alexa LF, 65, SXT) attaches one 26V battery directly to the back of the ARRI Alexa LF, 65, and SXT cameras to provide power through the rear battery contacts without cables. Internal circuit board prioritizes the 2-pin Fischer DC Input, allowing 24V block batteries to be used first, leaving the on-board battery fully charged.
Hot swapping is essential with big camera rigs, so the ability to switch between battery sources is a huge plus here and possible with the new 26V battery plate from Wooden Camera. The plate has an OLED screen on side panel providing voltage data, battery capacity, and active source information.
In addition, 2x Power Taps (D-Tap) are provided at a regulated 15V and current is monitored. In the even that the user exceeds the current threshold, the plate will cut power to the P-Taps, leaving the camera operating normally. A warning message will appear on the OLED screen and the user can reset it using the menu button.
The other new plate from Wooden Camera is the Sharkfin Gold Mount Plus (compatible again with the big-boy Alexa LF, 65, and SXT cameras) attaches 2x 26V batteries in a Sharkfin configuration directly to the back of the ARRI Alexa LF, 65, and SXT cameras to provide power through the rear battery contacts without cables.
With the Sharkfin, hot swapping is possible between two on camera battery sources as well as a 24V block battery.
Both 26V battery plates are available for pre-order now through the Wooden Camera website or through their dealership network (B&H links here) and will begin shipping late October 2019.
Be sure to stop by the Wooden Camera/Vitec Group stand at IBC 2019 to check out their full new lineup of gear.
