Zhiyun-Tech Introduces CRANE-M2 for Light Mirrorless Cameras and Mobile Phones

Just a few days after DJI announced the smaller and lighter Ronin-MS, Zhiyun-Tech rolls out the CRANE-M2. The new offering weighs just 1.1 lbs (500g) and with its modest maximum payload of 720g, it can predominantly handle compact devices such as light mirrorless cameras, mobile phones, and action cameras.

The gimbal sports a new quick-release plate alongside enhanced camera control via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, new stabilizing modes, and up to 7 hours battery life. Additional accessories with the gimbal include a phone holder, hand strap and even a mini tripod that can be used as an extension of the handle for a better grip.

For further convenience, the Zhiyun CRANE-M2 comes equipped with an OLED display that shows the gimbal mode, Bluetooth and connection status, battery level, and various gimbal parameters. Users also have quick and easy access to all the controls via the handle of the device.

Another neat feature is the ability to lock all axes with a push of a single button which prevents them from swinging around during travel. The scale mark and positioning memory lock, on the other hand, makes balancing a breeze.

Beyond that, the gimbal can sync up with a Wi-Fi-enabled camera that supports remote zoom, shutter, and video start/stop control. These functions can be operated from a zoom rocker and other controls on the gimbal itself.

Through the free ZY Play mobile app, users can get remote control over many functions of the gimbal and also access additional features such as time-lapse, panorama, and slow-motion capture.

The Zhiyun CRANE-M2 also has ¼-inch threaded holes to attach multiple accessories such as audio, lighting or monitoring equipment. On top, the gimbal can charge your camera or phone on the fly, plus it can also be charged from a power bank or other source.

Besides the basic modes well known from previous Zhiyun-Tech gimbals such as Pan Follow, Follow, and Lock, the newcomer also offers Full-range POV mode that enables 360 degrees synchronous movement on all three axes, Vortex mode for 360° barrel shots in all dimensions, Go mode for fast pans or tilts, as well as a dedicated Selfie mode.
