IKAN Announces PIVOT “Angled” 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer with 8 lb. Payload

Ikan have announced the release of the innovative PIVOT 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer, which uses a complete 360 movement on all 3 axes, while providing advanced stabilization and an unobstructed view to of the back LCD screen of the camera. The Ikan Pivot gimbal stabillizer supports a hefty maximum payload of 8 lbs (or 3.6 kg) maximum payload, which means it can support not only popular DSLRs and mirrorless cameras, but also compact S35 camcorders such as the Sony FS5.

The angled arm on the roll motor is a great idea, and is something that we’ve seen recently from other gimbals such as the Filmpower Nebula 5100 Slant, however with the new Ikan you get a slightly bigger max payload and included feet to set the gimbal on a flat surface. Using an adaptive algorithm, Ikan has improved the response speed and torque, allowing for better image stabilization.

The Ikan Pivot features a pressure sensitive joystick that allows precise manual control over the gimbal movements, and a helpful OLED status display screen on the operator side, which conveniently indicates battery life, operation mode, and joystick direction.

Another useful feature of this gimbal stabilizer is the fact that it is compatible with the super popular Manfrotto 501PL series mounting plates making it easy to switch from a gimbal to a compatible tripod easy. The gimbal’s battery holder is also compatible with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and the the battery is said to give operators a full day’s work on a single charge (8-10 hours).

The Ikan Pivot is also compatible with the Ikan Dual-Grip handles, as pictured below. The compact design features a lightweight carbon fibre handle that makes the gimbal perfect for event and music videography, and travel vlogging among others.
