Those of you who already had a chance to shoot with the RED Helium in 8K resolution should be well aware how much storage space you would need to store your project files even when it comes to just a couple of hours of Raw 8K footage. And, if you add the rest of your high-resolution media along with the space needed for your backups, things can add up pretty quickly and sooner rather than later you’ll run out of storage space.
This is a common scenario for more and more videographers who tend to use high-end digital cinema cameras for their projects capable of shooting 4K video and beyond. One thing is for sure, though, no matter how big are your workstation’s hard drives, chances are they all will get full relatively quickly. So, if you are on the market for a reliable and ultra-fast storage solution that can accommodate more than 100TB of data, the Storinator AV15 might be just the solution you’ve been looking for lately.
In a nutshell, it’s an ultra-efficient NAS server optimized for video editing that can handle up to 150TB of data, plus it’s easy to set up and maintain. The unit comes equipped with an Intel Xeon E3-1220 processor, 8GB DDR4 2133MHz, 128GB San Disk Z400s SSD boot drive, CORSAIR RM Series RM650 650W power supply along with a pre-installed operating system. Regarding connectivity options, it can easily connect to your network via a super-fast 10 Gigabit Ethernet connection. In addition, the system provides reliable protection for all your data as it utilizes one of the fifteen 10TB Seagate IronWolf Pro server hard drives on board for recovery purposes.
What’s more, you can work with your high-resolution video files directly from the server if you’ve already moved up to a 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) network. A similar setup along with the Storinator AV15 will allow you to achieve file transfers with speeds up to 1100 MB/s. In other words, this would make it possible to edit your high-resolution footage directly off of the server itself, at increased performance levels, with the security of RAID, and without the overhead of transferring files before and after editing to your local machine.
So, if you want to centralize your storage and edit directly from a blazing-fast local server that can handle up to 150TB of storage, the Storinator AV15 can certainly be a feasible option for your creative workflow. Overall, this type of solution is not only reliable and secured while offering more than enough space for your professional needs, but it also can give you much better and more productive experience in the editing bay without worrying too much about the free space left on your workstation.
