The 10bit 4:2:2 IPB (or in other words Long GOP) 4K and HD files that the Panasonic GH5 produces are notoriously difficult, make that nearly impossible to edit in Premiere Pro CC 2017, causing crashes and severe playback issues. The 8 bit files, at least for me, appeared to be OK in both Full HD and UHD when on a timeline in Premiere. Adobe did say they are working on more full-fledged support for the current Long GOP codec in the GH5, and earlier today they appear to have released a new update for Premiere Pro CC 2017 that appears to fix this.
The new Adobe Premiere Pro 11.1.2 update finally adds support for the 10 bit formats of the Panasonic GH5 and also contains important fixes for bugs. This is a critical update which is highly recommended for all users according to Adobe.
New Media Cache Management
The most important change with 11.1.2 is addressing issues introduced with the Media Cache management feature (added in 11.1 and already updated with 11.1.1). While 11.1.1 restricted cache management preference to be applied to files within the Media Cache folder structure, 11.1.2 will only apply the preference to media cache files of a known file type (such as *.pek, *.ims and *.cfa). Only those files will be deleted according to the cache management preference. The folders they are in will remain on the system. Additionally, the Media Cache management will be off by default.

On my PC, GH5 files will jump to full size upon timeline playback, suddenly displaying only the top left corner. They scale to the window at stop.

Right Click on the Program Monitor and Select High Quality Playback,… You can still change your Paused Resolution and your Playback Resolution to 1/8 to Full…
