Budget lens maker Samyang just announced their latest addition to their VDSLR range – the Samyang 16mm T2.6 full-frame lens. Those of you in the US are probably more familiar with the Rokinon DS naming convention, but for all intents and purposes – same company, same lenses. The new Samyang VDSLR 16mm T2.6 ED AS UMC is a wide angle cine lens designed for DSLR or mirrorless cameras employing the 35mm full frame sensor size.
Inheriting the renowned image quality of Samyang’s wide-angle lenses, the 16mm angle of view is commonly used by directors of photography around the globe for its versatile usage for wide-angled emotional scenes in film and videos. 16mm is not as aggressively wide as theit 14mm T3.1 for example, and is also slightly faster – with a T2.6 maximum aperture, that is sure to help out in light starved scenes.

Specifically, the Samyang 16mm T2.6 is a cine lens optimally designed for professional follow focus systems, thanks to the quiet and smooth de-clicked focus and aperture gear rings. Also, the distance scale and T numbers are marked on both sides of the lens for convenience when filming.
