Sony FS7 II Competition Time (again)! Here’s How You Can Win an FS7 II (or an a7sII)

Sony wants to sell a lot of FS7 Mark II‘s. But hey, who could blame them? I guess any manufacturer with a cash cow like the FS7, would want to milk it until the cows come home (ouch, sorry). They sold boatloads of the original FS7 (still the most popular PRO camera to buy in the UK and probably the world) and are looking to make their sophomore effort an even bigger success.

This is why someone in marketing pushed the button on their new competition open to YOU (at least those of you residing in most of Europe).

If you are good enough – that is, if you make a super-duper 1 minute documentary (that’s a whole 60 seconds – come on, how hard can it be, right?) before March 12th and Philip Bloom likes it the most – you can win a brand new Sony FS7 Mark II.

Don’t worry if you finish 2nd place – you get a free Sony a7sII. Not bad, not bad at all.

Here’s the Official word from Sony:

All submissions should be uploaded to YouTube and entered via the Sony Professional form by the 12th March. The top 10 videos to receive the most YouTube ‘likes’ from the 1st-12th March will be shortlisted and the winner and runner-up will be chosen by renowned filmmaker Philip Bloom. The winner and runner-up will both be announced during a live cinematic webinar on 22nd March, with the runner-up winning a Sony α7S II.

Competition is open to residents of the following countries:

Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, FYRO Macedonia, Malta, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and United Kingdom.

You gotta be 18 or older. Entries can be made up until March 12th 2017 23:59 UK time via THIS LINK!

Sorry Italy, for some reason Sony has not made the competition open to residents of your beautiful European country. Not sure why, but maybe you can ask them on Twitter.

Also sorry North America folks and rest of the world, this comp is strictly European. Make sure you read the full Ts & C’s here.

I am not sure I like the idea of a single judge, as it kind of makes it too subjective, but nevertheless the opportunity to win a camera that costs 12K GBP is quite enticing. In the past, Sony have had similar competition, but they used to have at least 2 or more judges, which I guess throws in a bit more objectivity (although at the end of the day judges vote based on their preference making their choice inherently subjective), but hey – if you got it, you’ve got it.

So go make a killer 1 minute short doc… oh, wait, no better yet, don’t make a killer 1 minute short doc because I will be submitting as well and I want to win.

On a more serious note, I think competitions like this are a great idea as 60 seconds is a helluva difficult time frame for anything meaningful in a docu form so better get cracking…
