Vimeo has been platform of choice for professional image makers and also super talented enthusiasts to showcase their work without getting lost in a sea of viral cat videos or your drunk uncle’s Christmas dinner antics that were secretly filmed in portrait mode on an smart phone and uploaded to that other popular video hosting platform. Vimeo has always been known as the more professional place to showcase your video work as opposed to YouTube, which of course has matured a lot in the past few years offering plenty of professionally produced content, however Vimeo have been offering quite a few pro features that are designed specifically for filmmakers; features that are often absent from other video sharing/hosting platforms.
Earlier today, Vimeo announced the launch of all-new video review tools, which allow Vimeo PRO and Vimeo Business members to seamlessly share, collect feedback and collaborate on video projects. This is really big news for content producers, directors and basically anyone that has ever uploaded a client video to Vimeo for review with a password only to then get some confusing and vague notes in an email.
The new Vimeo “review” tools, allow content creators to privately share videos with reviewers, and reviewers can leave time-coded feedback directly in the video.
“Today’s launch is an exciting step forward in our efforts to build an end-to-end workflow solution for video professionals,” said Anjali Sud, General Manager and Senior Vice President, Creator Platform, Vimeo.
“Instead of managing endless email chains or paying for costly collaboration software, creators can now incorporate review seamlessly into their workflow as part of their Vimeo PRO and Business membership – for no additional fees. Video collaboration is now easy and affordable, and all on Vimeo.”
Here is a summary of the new Vimeo Pro/Business features:
Shareable Review Pages
- Generate a shareable review page directly from you video page on Vimeo, and securely send videos to an unlimited number of reviewers for feedback.
Time-coded notes
- Reviewers can click directly on any frame in the video and add feedback in a note. Or, they can start typing their note and add a time code to reference a specific place in the video. All notes will go into the same feed, making it easier to manage and create actionable “to-dos.”
Real time feedback
- Reviewers can respond to individual notes in real time with team members and/or clients anywhere in world.
Video review pages are the latest in a suite of powerful tools recently released to Vimeo PRO ($17 a month) and Business members, including advanced privacy features and the ability to add multiple team members to a project.
Vimeo Business ($50 a month), which launched in September, also comes with up to 5TB of storage, Google Analytics integration for in-depth video stats and marketing tools to capture customer leads in the player.
