Litepanels are no stranger to LED lights, and as one of the first companies to offer dependable and high quality LED panels, they have made a name for themselves with the now industry standard Astra 1×1 Bi-Color panel. A few months back, the US outfit announced their Caliber 3 x Light LED Kit for videographers, YouTubers, and just about any one who wants high quality, portable, AA powered LED lights for their video productions. About a week ago, Litepanels announced the Brick – a new portable Bi-Color LED light, which can serve as an on-camera solution for ENG camera operators. The new LED light features a robust design featuring dust and water protection from the elements.
Building on the legacy of the revolutionary MiniPlus, the new Brick Bi-Color features high CRI and TLCI surface-mount LEDs, as well as custom-designed optics. These provide superior color reproduction and accurate color temperature.
The tightly binned LEDs also produce a light output that is up to four times brighter than the original MiniPlus, resulting in a longer throw that effectively allows the Brick to illuminate a larger area.
By having a comparable luminance output of 100W, it offers up to 1060 LUX (98 Footcandles) at 5ft (1.5M) while only drawing 19W. The Brick can also adapt to any situation by providing both daylight and tungsten lighting.
As you’ve come to expect from Litepanels, it has ultra-smooth dimming from 0-100%, so it’s not only flicker-free at any frame rate or shutter angle, but also has no noticeable color shift throughout its entire range.
With an IP 65 rating, the Litepanels Brick has a passive cooling system and a dust-tight design with water protection, providing excellent durability in harsh weather. For ultimate convenience, it has a 3ft (0.9m) PowerTap® cable to connect the Brick to cameras that support D-Tap connections.
Finally it also features ¼-20 mounting posts for a variety of mounting options.
Alongside this great new product is the Brick One Light Kit, consisting of:
- Half white diffusion gel
- Manfrotto 244 Micro articulating arm
- 6ft (1.8 m) international power supply
- 60° honeycomb frame
- Soft diffusion frame
- Waterproof hard case with custom foam for safe transportation
Optional accessories for the Brick include an Anton/Bauer QRG-LG plate and an Anton/Bauer PowerTap extension for off-camera mobile lighting set ups.
The Brick Bi-Color and Brick One Light Kit will be available at the end of October at a retail price of $399/£299 inc. VAT in the UK and on display with other Litepanels LED lighting products at IBC, booth 11.E55.
