As cameras shrink in size, as the most recent example from GoPro and their latest Hero4 Session, the next step is for the rest of the gear around the camera go get smaller. And if there is one thing that action cameras in particular need is stabilisation. For the most part they spend their life affixed to a surfboard/snowboard or whatever the mode of transportation thrill seekers use these days, but even in such situations having more stabilisation is never a bad thing. Chinese gimbal maker Feiyu Tech, popular for their single grip 3-axis micro gimbal the G4 Ultra, is launching a wearable gimbal designed for GoPro Hero4 cameras including the Hero4 Black, Hero4 Silver, Hero 3+/3 and other cameras of similar dimensions.
Feiyu Tech WG Features
- 3-Axis Stabilisation
- Lightweight – only 188g
- Body includes 2 x 1/4″ 20 holes allowing for various mounting positions
- GoPro T-clamp adapter included
- Single Button Operations – On/Off and Various Modes
- Extremely power efficient
- Camera Orientation detection system
- Optional remote control – for tilt/pan/roll adjustments
The shrunk form factor basically gets rid of the handle (which housed the battery compartment on the G4 3-axis gimbal) and with a flat base, the WG can be mounted in a variety of shooting scenarios – mostly, as I see it in car exteriors/interiors, motor bikes and helmets. It’s one thing to just stick a GoPro on your helmet with no additional stabilisation, but with the help of 3-axis stabilisation both professionals and enthusiasts should be able to get much smoother shots in faster conditions.
Pricing and availability has not been announced yet, however as stated on their official Facebook page, more details should be released soon. We’ll keep you posted. What do you guys think of this new gimbal? I think it will be great especially for car interior/exterior shots. Fingers crossed they price it right and ship soon.

Are these the same motors as the hand held units?
As in are they smaller/less powerful because of the smaller form factor, or the same as the original hand pole units?
