Cloud-based services continue to evolve giving the users better experience, more reliability, faster connectivity and more storage space for less money. The introduction of BitTorrent’s Sync Pro premium file synchronising service, will expand this trend even more. Earlier this year the current freemium Sync has reached an impressive milestone of 10 million installs, still based on keeping assets on premise instead of putting data into the cloud.
Syncing limitless number of video files between devices and sharing them with others is essential for many filmmakers. The upcoming Pro version of Sync will provide a free 30-day trial period, and then advanced access to terabit-sized, very large folders, letting users access individual files within them. Pro users also will take advantage of controlling folder permissions and ownership, automatic synchronization across devices with all devices connected with a common identity, and priority technical support for an annual fee of $39.99.
BitTorrent will add more features to the free version of Sync 2.0 as well. Free users will get an easier way to share and sync folders, a better user interface, new tablet apps for Android and iOS. There will be no restrictions on folder sizes as well.
In addition to the expanding on some of the file-sending functionality of Sync, BitTorrent will also introduce a new, as-yet unnamed mobile app focused specifically on large files. The app will follow the initial release of Sync Pro in the beginning of 2015.
